November Training
A lawyer from Hutchinson Legal gave an informative talk on ‘Elder Abuse’ and the difficulties which can arise when the older person gives Enduring Power of Attorney to a member of the family or trusted friends. Giving Power of Attornery is necessary against the time when financial or other decisions can no longer be made with confidence, due perhaps, to mental or physical deterioration. Having a loving, caring family where two or more members can be empowered to act for the older person is ideal but should problems arise help can be found either through the legal system, COTA (Council on the Ageing), or Seniors Rights Victoria.
